Podere Sabbioni is a family-run winery specialized in high quality and organic wines. The company is located in the Marche Region (East-Centre Italy), inside the Abbadia di Fiastra nature reserve. In this area, Mediterranean climate, calcareous clayey soil and peculiar geographical conditions allow the cultivation of a rare and ancient grape variety.
The company uses only self grown grapes, without the aid of synthetic chemicals and the cultivation/production method is organic according to European regulations. Moreover the vinery makes use of techniques to ensure sustainable production being self-sufficient from an energy point of view: photovoltaic panels allow to exploit the energy of the sun while a water mill owned
by the company (dating back to the early 1900s) provides hydroelectric power. All production and distribution phases are carried out in compliance with VIVA certification, a sustainability protocol, based on international standards, of the Italian Ministry of the Environment.
Among other things a weather station has been installed in the vineyard; it allows a precision viticulture according to the weather conditions. The Italian winery, established in 2009, is managed by a family which boasts a long tradition: it has been involved in the agriculture field since 1950.
The company produces two white wines and one red wine and all of them with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). The white wines come from cultivation of the ancient grape type (Maceratino Ribona): they are very mineral, sapid, almost salty and extremely long-lived. The red wine is made by cultivating and selecting some of the most prestigious Italian grapes such as Montepulciano and Sangiovese.
